Spring is here.....well kinda we've gotten to see glimpses of it the last few days and I've been enjoying working outside. I went to a green house got some flowers and gardening supplies. I've jut been itching to put my junkin pieces to work.

I use the mailbox to keep my tools and gloves in when not in use.

I was so excited when I found the metal suitcase, I sprayed the bottom interior with spray sealer keep water from molding the padding.

My favorie pieces old apple butter kettle, ladder and rusty wheelbarrow.

This old sink came from our new home when we remodeled rather than throw away its a pretty planter.

I never miss an opportunity to look for some rusty materials, with garage sale season upon us you never know what you'll find.

Clean it up

Greetings and salutations! Today I'm cleaning (gasp) being a stay at home somedays is a never ending cleaning marathon but even I have lazy days. Though I'd rather be making something it's important for me to take the time to keep things tidy. Spring is slowly trying to creep into mid-mo and the spring bug has found it's way to me. I decided months ago before we moved into our new home I would start cutting cost by making my own cleaning products. That's crafty right?
I've decided to share the recipes I most like and why. After research I found that most cleaners are 50% water, thanks to Pinterest I viewed many recipes that I could use. My favorites that I mentioned from 2012 are fromLittle miss rob I adore the cure all solution I use it to clean counters, cabinets, bathrooms and baseboards. It has a little chemically smell due to the small amount of ammonia used. My main objective to homemade cleaners....COST I spent one time grocery trip to stock up on supplies around $10 which has given me oodles of refills so far. I also use the blessing in a bottle which is dawn dish soap and vinegar this is glorious for stuck on foods and the ring around the tub.
I've tried two different recipes for DIY dish detergent my favorite so far is,Recipe I have found similar ones but the borax mixtures tends to clump if measured incorrectly. I have yet to try the dust spray made with olive oil, which will come soon.
I've enjoyed finding what works best and seeing what results I can get which are not so different than store bought mixtures. Maybe I've converted you and you'll give it a try before buying of the shelves next time. Hope your spring is finding well and rested, until next time.

Pinterest party!

Hello lovely people, I come baring gifts from all that is pinteresting. A pinterest party, what!?! Yes it's the newest phenomenon gracing the world. I feel in love with the electronic hoarding I have spent time on salivating over. Love pinterest? Want to share it with others? Grab your favorite people have each person bring a dish and plan some activities all pinterest inspired.
Rewind a bit, I found only lonely pin awhile back about all this, I would have never thought it up on my own. But finding info is sparse since it is such a new idea. Why not give it a try? I'll share with you what I came up with and decided what fits you best.

Decide party size, intimate gathering or large group for making new friends. Theme? Holiday, wine or chocolate? I went with generic bring whatever dish you please, my sister brought two, yum-o. By the time everyone brings one dish you'll have gobs of food. I made a Facebook event for my invites so fast, easy and keeps everyone informed on your gathering.
Next, on to activities this is where your bulk of time will be spent so choose wisely. I went with 3 crafts asking each guest to help with the supply budget which came to $5 a person. All of my crafts and recipes guests brought can be viewed on my pinterest party board.
Last of all but most important .....Have a Great time! There is no guideline make it your own and be sure to pass it on.

I made crush punch and raspberry iced tea, I went with a red theme in honor of pinterest colors.

Craft table already to go!

Here are my examples to show off- be sure to test out your activities.

Swag bags so your guests may take their goodies home at the end.

I labeled all the foods. The salsa was my contribution and it was so tasty.

I have already been prompted to have more parties and others wanting help I can't wait for the good times.

I hope the idea takes off and others are able to enjoy it too!

First project of 2013

A new year and so many possibilities to come. I've been racking my brain for something to share for today. Have you seen the empty frame walls? I've been wanting to try it out myself I love the idea. See one below.

I've been holding on to a couple frames I came across and painted them black. I decided to use the frame wall idea but with a twist.

Ok it's not complete but to have a place for our kids to display their art was a must and it was met with approval from our 5 year old. I'd like to fill the entire wall with frames I will have to wait till spring it's when garage sales start and where I find all my best supplies for crafts projects.

Back to my frames, what did I use?  Twine that I loosely draped and hot glued to the insides of the frames then using mini clothes spins I clipped them on so I can display almost anything. Besides planning the layout this only took 10 minutes.  Happy with the result and I'm just itching to find more frames.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year!
